  • Owner set to underground78
  • Status changed from new to accepted

It does ask for permission (cf. second picture here) and it can be disabled with /nocrashreporter command line option or just by renaming or removing the "CrashReporter" folder.

Additionally even if the user agrees to send more information, the only private data we may recover from the dump are things MPC-HC uses, i.e. basically nothing.

In 49069a:

Upgrade DrDump so that the crash reporting dialog can be improved.

  • The crash reporting dialog will not be started from the crashed process anymore so that it is completely safe.
  • The crash reporting dialog now completely replaces DrDump confirmation dialog
  • MPC-HC can now be restarted from the crash reporting dialog.

Fixes #5450 and #5479.

I have had five crashes with ver 1.7.10 and not once was I asked permission, my browser was automatically launched and I was taken to a drdump page thanking me for submission. I can find no setting in the options menu to disable this.

You can use /nocrashreporter command-line option or just remove (or rename) the CrashReporter folder located in MPC-HC installer directory.

However if you weren't asked for permission, it means that we just detected that you had an already submitted crash so you're just shown the corresponding page but nothing special is submitted.
