Description

Hello,
I had a quick suggestion about something that I see as an inconvenience in the playlist feature.

You see, I have a ".cmd" file which loads a folder full of videos into MPC's playlist and plays them:

start "cmd window" "X:\Other Stuff\Programs\Media Player Classic Home Cinema\1.7.6 (64-Bit Edition)\Media Player Classic HC.exe" /add /play "Y:\Funny Stuff\Videos"

I have the playlist setting set to "Shuffle", so when the playlist is in there, MPC plays the videos randomly. Yet when one video finishes and another random one starts, MPC plays it, but if I press the previous video button, it plays a completely new random one, instead of the one I just watched.

I also noticed that if I have the playlist set Not to Shuffle while that playlist is loaded in there, I press the Randomize button, and play the videos, it plays the videos in the randomized order of that playlist in order, which is what I want.

But the thing is, I don't know if there's a command to put in the .cmd file that will Randomize the playlist while it is loaded in MPC.

Setting the Shuffle option to remember the previously played files would be nice, yet the Randomize playlist from command file would be better.

Please help me out, thanks.

So what do you think about this feature?

The original Media Player Classic v6.4.9.1 loads the videos in a random order when the Random option is enabled, and plays them in that order from the playlist.
(Example: I load videos a, b, c, d, e altogether in MPC 6.4.9.1, and MPC puts them in a playlist:
1) c
2) a
3) d
4) e
5) b

and plays them in the order of 1), 2), 3), etc using the Previous and Next buttons)

I've been updated in the mpc development irc channel that it would be much easier to program in a '/randomize' option for .cmd files.

Can this be officially confirmed please?

Thanks so much

No worries about that! I appreciate the 'pre-release' version that you gave me (that one day when I asked about it in the chatroom) for me to use which had the '/randomize' function in it.
By the way, It works great!!

Keep up the great work on the MPC-HC project!
