Severity: major Keywords: MPC-HC, stopped working

Description

I'm running MPC-HC on a Windows Vista (SP2) 32bit system, or at least I'm trying. Every time I run it, Vista tells me that it has stopped working.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

What is your CPU?

comment:2 follow-up: Changed 6 years ago by namaiki

Also, try disable any anti-virus that you have and see if there is any difference.

CPU = Intel 585 @ 2.16GHz

I've tried turning off the anti-virus, but Vista still won't let it run.

Can you post a hijackthis log (in a code block, please), additional system specifications, and settings used for MPC-HC, so we can try to analyze/replicate the problem?

How do i post a hijackthis log in a code block? I'm new to the site and I've never used hijackthis before.

A code block is easy (just remove the spaces):

System is pretty basic. Vista 32bit (SP2) on a Intel 2.16GHz with 1Gb RAM. Running ESET NOD32 Anti-virus and the last CCCP (don't know if that will affect it, it's actually where I found out about MPC-HC).

Here is the hijackthis log...

If you have CCCP installed, do you get crashes from CCCP's MPC-HC build(Start-> Combined Community Codec Pack-> Media Player Classic Home Cinema) and the MPC-HC from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mpc-hc/files/MPC%20HomeCinema%20-%20Win32/MPC-HC%20v1.4.2499.0_32%20bits/MPC-HomeCinema.1.4.2499.0.x86.exe/download as well?

Also, you get a crash after opening MPC-HC and doing nothing else?

I installed the CCCP and tried to run the MPC-HC included in the pack, but every time I try, Vista says that "Media Player Classic - Home Cinema has stopped working". I thought the version included in the CCCP might be the problem, so I downloaded the version (1.4.2499.0.x86) from the sourceforge website as well. And it too won't work. Same error message.

The mpc-hc included in CCCP is custimized by them, we cannot support that version sorry.

Please follow the troubleshooting guide and be sure to try a nightly build, then report back. https://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/mpc-hc/wiki/Troubleshooting_guidelines

If you can still reproduce the crash after all that, make sure to give us the detailed information by pressing "details" or "info".
It should tell you things like which module crashed and error codes etc...

I've gone through the troubleshooting guidelines and have updated all my drivers. I started MPC_HC 1.4.2499 to see if this helped, but the program still wouldn't start. I uninstalled 4.2499 and I installed 3.1429. Now it works just fine (so far). I've run avi's, mkv's and flv's without any problems.

  • Resolution set to invalid
  • Status changed from new to closed

Still need details about the crash as tetsuo55 has already written.
